Two recent hotel announcements show American Mahjong becoming part of hospitality programming. Loews Hotels’ new Game On initiative includes a partnership between its New York Regency property and The Haus of Mahj, plus a New York-themed set that guests can borrow.
Separately, Hotel Bel-Air and Oh My Mahjong have introduced a series using rotating tiles and mats, with an American Mahjong instructor offering guidance. The partnership brings a tile brand and a teacher into an existing hotel gathering space.
The wider interest is how the experience is assembled: equipment, a place to sit and someone to help players get comfortable. Borrowable sets and hosted play offer two examples of how a hospitality business can make room for the game.
